LCD TV Demands Have Grown Rapidly

Every television consumer today realizes that the number one technology employed is that of Liquid Crystal Display (LCD). Its competitor technology, such as DLP and plasma, are far behind in worldwide sales. The demand for LCD television technology has rapidly grown throughout the planet. The expanded technology utilized by LCD creates it as the best modern and effective use of high-definition television in today’s market. How LCD technology became a reality video wall software?

Discovered in Austria

It was in Austria that a scientist by the name of Friedrich Reinitzer first came across liquid crystallization. In fact, this modern-day technology first discovered by Reinitzer took place more than a century earlier in 1888. It was then that he experimented with the properties of look at crystallization. The first abbot using liquid crystallization for the manufacture of commercial projects was conducted by George Heilmeir, who was an electrical engineer at the University of Pennsylvania. He went to work in laboratories at RCA with fellow scientists Louis Zanoni, Lucian Barton and Richard Williams. Within time other scientists including Nunzio Lucci, Joseph Catalano and Joel Goldmacher joined them. This group experimented with several different models employing different types of liquid crystallization methodologies. The work that these people did eventually became the beginnings of LCD television technology that is being used currently. However, before LCD could be applied to television use, there were several different stages of experimentation that led to what is being used right now.

LCD Was Primed For Digital Gadgetry

It wasn’t long before the constant and diverse experimentation with LCD technology made use scientists realized that it could be easily adapted to creating digital gadgets. The first ones that were experimented with included clocks, watches and calculators. Before long scientists realized that LCD technology and limitless potential. The digital alarm that we have in our watches and clocks, as well as our cell phones, can be attributed to George Heilmeir and his fellow RCA scientist.

LCD Technology Grows Up

It was actually a scientist by the name of James Fergason, a graduate of the University of Missouri, that took Heilmeir’s work on LCD technology and added a discovery of his called the nematic field effect and applied it to the then current technology that has eventually took it to level where it is today. But, what we view as an LCD television today did not happen overnight. Fergason and his team presented their first LCD TV all the way back in 1971. However, it was an absolute disaster disappointing everyone who came in contact with because the first viewing showed phantom images during an actual live broadcast.

Enter the Age of Adjustment

Fergason  had to go back to the drawing board, or experimental laboratory, and with his team of scientists get harder work seeking to make a lot of adjustments to this disappointing technology. Once they came across an adjustment known as “reverse pull-down correction,” the new LCD television that grew out of this discovery became an instant hit. The popularity and success compelled Fergason to start his own company where they applied for and own 100 patents worldwide for television manufacturing.

Consumers today report nothing short of having excellent experiences viewing LCD technology in their home-based televisions. The rate of LCD TV popularity will soon replace the old standard CRTs that have been used in television manufacturing in the past.
